BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Speaking to reporters before the first training camp practice Friday, receiver
Muhsin Muhammad discussed whether the Bears are hungry enough to win the Super Bowl, his expectations for Rex Grossman and if the offense has improved:
After reaching the Super Bowl last season, what obstacles do the Bears face in 2007?
Just getting back to that point, being successful, making the playoffs. There are a lot of knocks on teams that play in the Super Bowl. It’s definitely a challenge. We’re looking forward to it.
Are the Bears hungry enough to return to the Super Bowl and win it?

I can’t say the losing team is ever satisfied. We definitely have something to prove. We definitely have hunger pains, all that kind of stuff, all the cliché things you can think of. We just need to prepare, be consistent this year and just finish the job.
Has the Bears offense improved?
The beauty of being in the same offense for three years is that the guys who are in it get a chance to improve and you get to add guys, like Greg Olsen, like Devin Hester. Those guys get to come in and add a few wrinkles here and there and some explosive plays hopefully and just make us that much better.
Was the offseason as disruptive as it seemed?
What happens from March until the end of July we don’t pay much attention to. You hear it, but once you get into camp we’re focused on football. That’s all the business aspect. That’s all the business side of what we deal with. The reality of the game that we play is that there is a business side to it. But once all that’s settled, we’re out here to play football.
What are your expectations for Rex Grossman?
I expect Rex to be a better player than he was last year. I do. I expect him to make better decisions. I expect him to be consistent. And I’m pretty sure he expects that out of himself, too, so it’s not what Moose expects out of Rex. It’s more what Rex expects out of Rex and him hust improving on what he built from last season.
Does losing the Super Bowl provide motivation?
We can definitely use that as motivation. I think that’s enough to motivate any player, any team, any coach, staff or whatever. If you remember the ebb and flow of last season you know we had some great times. We had some down times. But all of that stuff will be fuel for the fire. For the great times, hey, we want to continue to have those. For the down times we want to look at that and see how we can improve from it.
